Cedar oil

Cedar oil is a natural essential oil derived from various cedar species, such as Atlas cedar, Western juniper, Port-Orford-cedar, and Alaska cedar. It contains active components like cedrol, alpha- and beta-cedrene, and nootkatin, which contribute to its diverse pharmacological and biological activities. These include mitigating hepatic lipid accumulation and adipocyte hypertrophy by inhibiting glucocorticoid receptor activity, as well as exhibiting acaricidal, antibacterial, antioxidant, and hemostatic properties. Cedar oil is explored for applications in treating lipid metabolism disorders, obesity, and as an active ingredient in pest control products for bed bugs, cattle fever ticks, and ants. It is also investigated for use in wound healing hydrogels, bioactive food packaging films, and as a fat replacer in low-fat emulsions.
