Overview

**Cediranib + paclitaxel + carboplatin** is an investigational combination therapy primarily studied in advanced solid tumors, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and metastatic or recurrent cervical cancer. Cediranib is a potent oral small molecule inhibitor of all three vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR-1, VEGFR-2, VEGFR-3), blocking angiogenesis required for tumor growth. Paclitaxel, a microtubule inhibitor, and carboplatin, a DNA-damaging platinum agent, are chemotherapeutic agents used to kill or inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells. This combination aims to synergistically inhibit tumor growth by simultaneously blocking tumor angiogenesis and directly killing tumor cells. Clinical trials have shown enhanced tumor responses and progression-free survival compared to chemotherapy alone, but tolerability issues have been noted at some dosing regimens[1][2][3][4][7]. The combination has mainly been investigated in randomized phase II and III studies for advanced NSCLC and recurrent/metastatic cervical cancer, but is not an approved standard of care.
