cefditoren

Cefditoren is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat infections caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including those resistant to other antibiotics. It is primarily indicated for community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections, and otitis media. Cefditoren is administered orally as the prodrug cefditoren pivoxil, which is hydrolyzed in the body to its active form. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to bactericidal activity.
