Cefodizime + moxifloxacin is a combination antibiotic therapy consisting of two agents with complementary mechanisms of action. Cefodizime is a third-generation cephalosporin (beta-lactam) antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins, leading to cell lysis and death. Moxifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. This combination targets both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and is used primarily for the treatment of various bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections (such as pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin infections, middle ear infections (otitis media), tonsillitis, bronchitis exacerbations, typhoid fever, gonorrhea, sinusitis, and other infectious diseases caused by susceptible organisms[3]. The rationale for combining these drugs lies in their different mechanisms of action which may provide synergistic or additive antibacterial effects against multi-drug resistant pathogens such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa or Streptococcus pneumoniae[1][3].
