Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Creo-Plus is a fixed-dose combination tablet containing cefpodoxime proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, and Lactic Acid Bacillus, a probiotic. Cefpodoxime proxetil is a prodrug that is converted in vivo to active cefpodoxime, which exerts bactericidal activity by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) and inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Lactic Acid Bacillus is co-formulated as a probiotic to help restore and maintain the natural balance of gut microbiota, thereby preventing or mitigating antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) and other gastrointestinal side effects commonly caused by broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy. Creo-Plus is approved and marketed for the treatment of various susceptible bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media.
