ceftazidime + sulbactam

Ceftazidime + sulbactam is a fixed-dose combination injectable antibiotic used primarily for the treatment of severe bacterial infections in hospitalized patients. Ceftazidime is a third-generation cephalosporin that exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, specifically targeting penicillin-binding proteins. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects ceftazidime from enzymatic degradation by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby broadening its spectrum of activity and enhancing efficacy against resistant organisms. This combination is indicated for complicated intra-abdominal infections, urinary tract infections, hospital-acquired pneumonia, septicemia, bone and joint infections, skin and soft tissue infections, meningitis, post-surgical infections, and serious hospital-acquired or healthcare-associated bacterial diseases[1][4]. It is administered intravenously or intramuscularly.
