A combination of **ceftazidime-avibactam** (a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic plus a non-β-lactam β-lactamase inhibitor) and **sulbactam** (a β-lactamase inhibitor with intrinsic antibacterial activity against Acinetobacter spp.) studied for its synergistic antibacterial action, especially against extensively drug-resistant (XDR) *Acinetobacter baumannii*. This combination is used experimentally or considered for treating challenging Gram-negative infections, notably those resistant to standard therapies. Synergy is attributed to the capacity of avibactam and sulbactam to inhibit diverse β-lactamases, restore β-lactam susceptibility in resistant bacteria, and enhance bactericidal activity[1][3][7]. Neither a fixed-dose preparation nor a marketed brand name exists for this triple combination; use is off-label or investigative.
