Ceftigold

Ceftigold is a generic antibiotic product developed and manufactured by the Vietnamese pharmaceutical company Fremed. It contains the active ingredient ceftriaxone, which is a third-generation cephalosporin. The drug functions by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through the binding and inhibition of penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which are enzymes involved in the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis. This leads to the weakening of the bacterial cell wall and eventual osmotic lysis. Ceftigold is indicated for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections, including lower respiratory tract infections, skin and skin structure infections, urinary tract infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, bacterial septicemia, bone and joint infections, and meningitis.
