Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ceftriamidine is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It is not widely marketed or approved in major regions such as the United States, Europe, or Japan. Ceftriamidine belongs to the beta-lactam class of antibiotics and acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to cell lysis and death. Its primary indication would be for the treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to cephalosporins, but there is little evidence of its clinical use or approval status in major regulatory jurisdictions.
