Overview

Xinlexin is a brand name for ceftriaxone sodium, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic developed and marketed by Suzhou Chung-Hwa Chemical & Pharmaceutical (SCCPC). As a broad-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic, ceftriaxone exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). It is highly stable against many beta-lactamases and is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Xinlexin is indicated for the treatment of serious infections, including lower respiratory tract infections (pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, intra-abdominal infections, meningitis, and septicemia. It is also used for surgical prophylaxis. The drug is typically administered via intravenous or intramuscular injection.
