Cefurock

Cefurock is a branded generic formulation of the second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic cefuroxime, marketed by El-Dorado Biotech (Eldora). As a beta-lactam antibiotic, it exerts bactericidal activity by binding to and inhibiting penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located on the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall. This binding disrupts the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis, which is essential for bacterial cell wall integrity, ultimately leading to cell lysis and death. Cefurock is effective against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and is typically indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain sexually transmitted diseases.
