This trial evaluates the efficacy of local infiltration anesthesia for managing postoperative pain in patients undergoing orthopedic wide excision for bone or soft tissue tumors. Cefuroxime is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that exerts its effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through the targeting of penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which are essential for peptidoglycan cross-linking. In the context of surgical procedures, it is commonly used for perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis. Saline (0.9% sodium chloride) acts as the sterile diluent and vehicle for the antibiotic. In this specific study, the combination serves as a placebo/control arm to be compared against an active analgesic mixture containing ropivacaine, morphine, ketorolac, and epinephrine.
