Cegardex is a quadrivalent recombinant vaccine developed by the Russian pharmaceutical company Nanolek for the prevention of infections and diseases caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV) types 6, 11, 16, and 18. As a biosimilar/analog of the quadrivalent vaccine Gardasil, Cegardex is composed of purified virus-like particles (VLPs) of the major capsid L1 protein for each of the four targeted HPV types, produced in *Saccharomyces cerevisiae* (yeast). The vaccine is adsorbed onto an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant to enhance the immune response. It is indicated for the prevention of cervical, vulvar, vaginal, and anal cancers, as well as precancerous lesions and genital warts (condyloma acuminata) associated with the targeted HPV genotypes. Cegardex received marketing authorization from the Russian Ministry of Health in late 2023, becoming the first domestically produced quadrivalent HPV vaccine in Russia.
