Overview

CEL-200 is a proprietary small molecule immunotherapy being developed by Celista Pharmaceuticals. It acts as a dual agonist of Toll-like receptor 7 (TLR7) and Toll-like receptor 8 (TLR8). These receptors are key components of the innate immune system, typically recognizing viral single-stranded RNA. By activating TLR7 and TLR8, CEL-200 triggers the activation of immune cells such as dendritic cells and macrophages, leading to the secretion of cytokines (like interferon-alpha and IL-12) and the subsequent stimulation of a Th1-polarized adaptive immune response. This mechanism is being leveraged for the treatment of various solid and hematologic malignancies, including melanoma, cutaneous carcinoma, and T-cell lymphoma, as well as for the treatment or prevention of viral infections such as respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), influenza, and dengue. It is also being investigated for HPV-related conditions like recurrent respiratory papillomatosis, cervical cancer, and vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia. CEL-200 is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
