Overview

CEL383 is an investigational monoclonal antibody that targets Triggering Receptor Expressed on Myeloid Cells 1 (TREM1). It acts as a TREM1 antagonist, inhibiting TREM1 signaling and thereby reducing the levels of multiple inflammatory mediators such as TNFα and IL23. This mechanism is believed to be clinically relevant in inflammatory conditions, particularly in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. The drug was originally developed by Celsius Therapeutics using their SCOPE platform for precision medicine discovery and has completed a Phase 1 clinical trial evaluating its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and target engagement in healthy volunteers. AbbVie acquired Celsius Therapeutics in June 2024 and now leads further development of CEL383[1][2][4][7].
