Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Celastrol enriched extract (CEE) is a botanical extract derived from *Tripterygium wilfordii* plant cell cultures using a bioreactor-based bioprocess. It is enriched for the pentacyclic triterpene celastrol, which possesses potent anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. CEE is designed for topical dermatological use, specifically targeting the Th17/Th22 pathway involved in psoriasis. It inhibits the expression of key cytokines such as IL-17, IL-22, and IL-8, thereby restoring skin homeostasis and reducing psoriasis-associated biomarkers. The extract is produced via an ecofriendly bioprocess as an alternative to traditional root-obtained extracts.
