Overview

Celecoxib + escitalopram is a combination of two pharmaceutical drugs, each with distinct mechanisms of action. Celecoxib is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor classified as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), primarily used to treat pain and inflammation in conditions such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Escitalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and other psychiatric conditions. The combination has been studied for potential synergistic effects in treating depression, particularly major depressive disorder; some evidence suggests that adding celecoxib to escitalopram may improve depressive symptoms without significantly increasing adverse events[3]. However, this combination carries an increased risk of bleeding due to additive effects on platelet function[1][4][6].
