Overview

Celecoxib + reboxetine is a combination of two small molecule drugs, each with distinct mechanisms of action. Celecoxib is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor that reduces the production of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins, thereby decreasing pain and inflammation. Reboxetine is a selective noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor (NaRI) used primarily as an antidepressant; it increases synaptic concentrations of noradrenaline by inhibiting its transporter. This combination has been investigated for its potential to enhance antidepressant efficacy in major depressive disorder (MDD), particularly in treatment-resistant cases where inflammatory processes may play a role. Preclinical studies suggest that celecoxib can potentiate the effects of reboxetine on cortical noradrenaline output, supporting the rationale for combining anti-inflammatory and monoaminergic agents in mood disorders[1][3].
