Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Elyxyb is a ready-to-use oral solution formulation of celecoxib, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor. It is indicated for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults. Elyxyb uses a self-microemulsifying drug delivery system to improve solubility and bioavailability, resulting in faster absorption compared to standard formulations. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis by selectively blocking COX-2, thereby reducing inflammation and pain signaling associated with migraine attacks. The most common adverse reaction is dysgeusia; serious risks include cardiovascular thrombotic events and gastrointestinal bleeding or ulceration[1][6][8].
