Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Celecoxib topical (DFD-07) is a 1.25% cream formulation of celecoxib, a selective cyclo-oxygenase 2 (COX-2) inhibitor. It is being developed for the treatment of actinic keratosis, a precancerous skin condition characterized by rough, scaly patches on sun-exposed areas such as the face and scalp. The drug acts by inhibiting COX-2, thereby reducing inflammation and potentially exerting keratolytic effects that help clear actinic keratosis lesions. DFD-07 is applied topically to affected skin areas and has been evaluated in randomized controlled clinical trials for safety and efficacy in this indication[5][7].
