Overview
Celgosivir + peginterferon alfa-2b + ribavirin is a combination antiviral therapy, investigated primarily for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus infection. **Celgosivir** is a small molecule alpha-glucosidase I inhibitor that blocks glycoprotein processing in viral replication, potentially reducing viral load. **Peginterferon alfa-2b** is a pegylated recombinant protein (interferon alpha-2b covalently attached to polyethylene glycol) that exerts immunomodulatory and antiviral effects primarily by activating the JAK-STAT pathway and inducing antiviral gene expression. **Ribavirin** is a nucleoside analog that inhibits RNA and DNA virus replication, used to potentiate interferon's action. This combination has been studied to improve viral clearance, histologic response, and reduce mortality in patients with chronic hepatitis C, compared to conventional interferon-based regimens[1][2][3][4].
