A **cell-derived trivalent influenza vaccine** is an inactivated influenza vaccine produced using cell-culture technology, specifically Madin-Darby Canine Kidney (MDCK) cells, instead of the more traditional egg-based manufacturing process[6]. This vaccine contains antigens from three influenza virus strains: two influenza A subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) and one influenza B subtype (typically of the B/Victoria lineage)[2][5][6]. Cell-based manufacturing can offer advantages such as avoiding antigenic changes associated with egg adaptation and is scalable for rapid production. The vaccine works by inducing a protective immune response to the hemagglutinin proteins of the included influenza strains, thus preventing influenza infection.
