Cell-free fat extract + hyaluronic acid is an experimental combination therapy developed by Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital and Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of atrophic scars, such as those resulting from acne. The therapy combines cell-free fat extract (CEFFE)—a protein-rich supernatant derived from human adipose tissue containing growth factors like VEGF, TGF-β, and HGF—with hyaluronic acid (HA), which serves as a biocompatible scaffold. The mechanism of action involves the induction of fibroblast proliferation, stimulation of collagen and elastin synthesis, and promotion of angiogenesis, while the HA component provides immediate physical filling and a hydrated microenvironment for tissue regeneration. This combination aims to overcome the limitations of traditional fillers by providing long-term biological tissue repair.
