Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The cell-permeable CFB inhibitor (also known as cpFBinh or CFBi) is a small molecule inhibitor of complement factor B (CFB) developed by GSK. It is designed to rapidly diffuse across cell membranes to target and inhibit intracellular CFB, a key component of the alternative pathway C3 convertase. By blocking intracellular CFB, the inhibitor prevents the cell-intrinsic activation of C3 and subsequent downstream complement signaling. This tool compound has been widely used in preclinical research to investigate the role of the intracellular complement system (the complosome) in various pathological processes, including SARS-CoV-2-induced lung epithelial cell inflammation, post-injury kidney fibrosis, and macrophage-mediated inflammatory responses.
