Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CellerateRx Gel is a topical wound care product that combines hydrolyzed collagen with polysulfated glycosaminoglycan (PSGAG). Developed by Wound Management Technologies (later marketed through Wound Care Innovations), the product is designed to manage acute and chronic wounds by creating an optimal healing environment. The hydrolyzed collagen component acts as a therapeutic scaffold and pharmaceutical carrier that absorbs wound exudates, which often contain high levels of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) that can impede tissue regeneration. The PSGAG component, derived from bovine sources, works to reduce the density of wound granulation tissue, thereby lowering resistance to epidermal migration and accelerating the healing process. The product is FDA-cleared via the 510(k) pathway for various indications, including pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, and surgical wounds.
