Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cellgram-LC is an autologous bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy developed by Pharmicell for the treatment of liver cirrhosis, specifically alcoholic liver cirrhosis. The therapy involves the extraction of bone marrow from the patient, followed by the isolation and ex vivo expansion of mesenchymal stem cells. These expanded cells are then administered back to the patient via hepatic artery injection. Once in the liver, the MSCs exert therapeutic effects through paracrine signaling, secreting various cytokines and growth factors such as hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and interleukin-10 (IL-10). These factors help to inhibit the activation of hepatic stellate cells, which are the primary drivers of liver fibrosis, and promote the regeneration of hepatocytes. Cellgram-LC is designed to improve liver function and reduce the severity of fibrosis in patients with chronic liver disease.
