Overview

Cellistem IC is an autologous cell therapy product composed of bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells (BMMNCs), developed by the Brazilian biotechnology company Cellistem. It is primarily investigated for the treatment of severe cardiovascular conditions, most notably chronic heart failure and Chagasic cardiomyopathy. The therapy is administered via the intracoronary (IC) route, allowing the cells to migrate to damaged areas of the myocardium. Once localized, the cells are thought to exert therapeutic effects through paracrine signaling, releasing a variety of growth factors and cytokines that stimulate angiogenesis, modulate the inflammatory response, and promote the repair of cardiac tissue. This regenerative approach aims to improve ventricular function and overall patient outcomes in diseases where traditional pharmacological treatments may be insufficient.
