Overview

CellistemOA is an allogeneic, "ready-to-use" cryopreserved cell therapy product consisting of standardized umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (UC-MSCs). Developed by Cells for Cells, it is intended for the treatment of symptomatic knee osteoarthritis (OA) via a single intra-articular injection. The therapy leverages the immunomodulatory and regenerative properties of MSCs to reduce joint inflammation, attenuate cartilage degradation, and improve clinical outcomes such as pain and physical function. Clinical studies, including the CLT-OA1 trial, have demonstrated that CellistemOA is safe and potentially superior to conventional corticosteroid treatments like triamcinolone over a 12-month follow-up period. The product is designed to be an off-the-shelf solution, enabling wider access to cell therapy in facilities without complex cell manipulation equipment.
