Overview

Cellkine is an investigational allogeneic cell therapy developed by the Mayo Clinic for the treatment of chronic low back pain associated with lumbar facet joint arthropathy (LFJA). The therapy consists of culture-expanded mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from the bone marrow of healthy donors. These cells are administered via intra-articular injection directly into the affected lumbar facet joints. Cellkine is intended to address the underlying degenerative processes of LFJA through the immunomodulatory and trophic effects of the mesenchymal stem cells, which may reduce local inflammation and promote tissue stabilization. The product is manufactured at Mayo Clinic's cGMP facility in Florida and is currently being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials.
