Overview

Cellm-001 is an investigational peptide-based cancer vaccine being developed for the treatment of recurrent glioblastoma. It consists of a specific peptide derived from the Wilms' Tumor 1 (WT1) protein, most notably the WT1-235 peptide, which is restricted to the HLA-A*24:02 allele common in the Japanese population. WT1 is a transcription factor that is highly expressed in various malignancies, including glioblastoma multiforme, but has limited expression in normal tissues, making it an ideal target for immunotherapy. The vaccine is designed to stimulate the patient's immune system to generate WT1-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTLs) that recognize and eliminate tumor cells expressing the WT1 antigen. Development of Cellm-001 has been supported by the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) and is being spearheaded by Cellm Inc., a biotechnology venture originating from research at Osaka University.
