CellMist

CellMist is an autologous skin cell therapy developed by RenovaCare, Inc., designed for the treatment of severe burns and wounds. The therapy involves harvesting a small biopsy of the patient's own healthy skin, from which skin stem cells—specifically keratinocytes and melanocytes—are isolated and suspended in a proprietary water-based solution. This suspension, known as the CellMist Solution, is then applied to the wound site using the SkinGun, a specialized spray device that distributes the cells as a fine mist. This approach facilitates rapid re-epithelialization and healing across the entire wound surface, aiming to reduce recovery time and minimize scarring compared to traditional skin grafting. Clinical development reached Phase 2 for deep second-degree burns, though the program was suspended in 2022 due to corporate and financial challenges.
