Overview

CellProtect is an investigational autologous natural killer (NK) cell therapy developed for the treatment of multiple myeloma. The therapy involves extracting NK cells from a patient's own blood, expanding and activating them ex vivo, and then reinfusing them to target and kill cancer cells. CellProtect has received orphan drug designation from both the FDA and EMA for multiple myeloma. Its mechanism of action relies on the cytotoxic activity of NK cells, which can destroy malignant cells through direct lytic granule release or by inducing apoptosis via death receptor pathways. CellProtect is being developed by XNK Therapeutics (formerly CellProtect Nordic Pharmaceuticals). Clinical trials have shown promising safety profiles and early signals of efficacy as a supplemental treatment following autologous stem cell transplantation in multiple myeloma patients[1][3][4][7].
