CellSense (CS-1000) is a perfluoropolyether (PFPE) nanoemulsion developed by Celsense, Inc., designed as a fluorine-19 (19F) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agent for non-invasive cell tracking. The agent is primarily used to label cells *ex vivo*—such as peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), dendritic cells, or T-cells—which are then re-infused into the patient. Because 19F is virtually absent from biological tissues, MRI can detect the labeled cells with high specificity and no background signal, enabling the precise localization and quantification of cellular therapies *in vivo*. Gregory A. Dekaban has led clinical research, including a Phase I study (NCT02035085), to evaluate the safety and feasibility of using CellSense to track autologous PBMCs in patients with prostate cancer and healthy volunteers, aiming to monitor the distribution of immune cells in the context of cancer immunotherapy.
