Celltex Therapeutics Corporation's allogeneic adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AdMSCs) are an investigational cell therapy developed for the treatment of severe COVID-19 symptoms. This "off-the-shelf" therapy utilizes mesenchymal stem cells isolated from donor adipose (fat) tissue, which are expanded to therapeutic doses and administered via intravenous infusion. The cells function through immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory mechanisms, migrating to areas of inflammation and injury. Once at the site, they act primarily through paracrine effects, releasing bioactive molecules that help suppress overactive immune responses, such as the cytokine release syndrome associated with severe COVID-19, while supporting the body's inherent repair mechanisms. This approach is distinct from the company's autologous products and is intended for use when using a patient's own cells is not feasible.
