Celoxone

Celoxone is a brand of cefalexin (cephalexin), a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic marketed by Nutramedica. It is a small molecule that exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Specifically, it binds to and inactivates penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located on the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall, which prevents the cross-linking of peptidoglycan chains. This disruption leads to cell lysis and death. Celoxone is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including upper respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and pediatric infections caused by susceptible gram-positive bacteria such as *Staphylococcus* and *Streptococcus* species. It is available in oral formulations including capsules for adults and suspensions or drops for pediatric use.
