Celtura

Celtura is an MF59-adjuvanted, cell culture-derived monovalent influenza vaccine developed by Novartis in response to the 2009 H1N1 pandemic. It contains 7.5 μg of hemagglutinin (HA) from the influenza A/California/07/2009 (H1N1) strain as its active ingredient. The vaccine is formulated with MF59, a proprietary squalene-based oil-in-water emulsion adjuvant designed to enhance the immune response by stimulating CD4+ T-cell memory and promoting antigen uptake by macrophages and dendritic cells. Clinical trials, including a Phase 1 study conducted by University Hospitals Leicester, demonstrated that the adjuvanted formulation was more immunogenic than non-adjuvanted versions, often requiring only a single dose to achieve protective antibody levels.
