Overview
Cemiplimab + platinum-doublet chemotherapy is a **combination drug regimen** used for the first-line treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Cemiplimab is a **monoclonal antibody** that targets and inhibits the programmed cell death protein 1 (**PD-1**) on T cells, thereby enhancing immune repression of cancer cells. The platinum-doublet chemotherapy consists of a combination of a platinum-based agent (carboplatin or cisplatin) and another cytotoxic agent (paclitaxel or pemetrexed), acting as direct antineoplastic agents that prevent cancer cell replication by forming DNA crosslinks and disrupting microtubule formation. This regimen has demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in overall survival and progression-free survival when compared to chemotherapy alone in advanced NSCLC patients with no EGFR, ALK, or ROS1 aberrations, regardless of PD-L1 expression or histology[1][2][5][6].
