Overview
Cemiplimab + ziv-aflibercept is an investigational combination therapy currently in clinical development for metastatic uveal melanoma. Cemiplimab is a monoclonal antibody targeting programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1), which acts as a checkpoint inhibitor and promotes anti-tumor immune responses. Ziv-aflibercept is a recombinant fusion protein that functions as a soluble decoy receptor for vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGF-A, VEGF-B) and placental growth factor (PIGF), blocking angiogenesis and tumor vascularization. This combination is being evaluated for its ability to shrink tumors or halt tumor progression through dual mechanisms: immune checkpoint inhibition and antiangiogenic blockade[1][2][3][4][7].
