Overview
Centella asiatica eye drops are a botanical formulation derived from the *Centella asiatica* (Gotu Kola) plant, primarily used in traditional and complementary medicine for the treatment of glaucoma and other ocular conditions. The extract is standardized to contain active triterpenes, including asiaticoside, madecassoside, asiatic acid, and madecassic acid. These constituents are thought to provide neuroprotective effects to the retinal ganglion cells and improve the structural integrity of the trabecular meshwork. By modulating collagen metabolism and reducing oxidative stress, the extract may facilitate the outflow of aqueous humor and potentially lower intraocular pressure (IOP). While frequently found in polyherbal ophthalmic preparations such as Ophthacare, *Centella asiatica* has been investigated for its individual therapeutic potential in managing glaucomatous damage and promoting overall ocular health.
