centella asiatica leaf extract

Centella asiatica leaf extract is a botanical extract derived from the leaves of the Centella asiatica plant, commonly known as Gotu Kola, Tiger Grass, or Cica. It is widely used in cosmetic, dermatological, and phytotherapeutic applications due to its rich content of biologically active pentacyclic triterpenoid saponins, collectively known as centellosides (including asiaticoside, madecassoside, asiatic acid, and madecassic acid). These active compounds stimulate glycosaminoglycan synthesis, promote collagen expression, and exhibit potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and wound-healing properties. While primarily utilized topically in skincare formulations for wound healing, anti-aging, and soothing inflammation, it has also been investigated for potential antibacterial activity and cognitive enhancement.
