Centi-Flu

Centi-Flu is a broad-spectrum, pan-influenza mRNA vaccine candidate developed by Centivax. It is designed to provide universal protection against all human influenza strains by using an innovative "epitope focusing" approach. This method leverages computational immunology to direct the immune response toward conserved regions of the influenza virus—sites that do not mutate easily—thereby generating durable and broad immunity even as other parts of the virus evolve[1][7]. Preclinical studies have shown that Centi-Flu can induce immunity spanning over a century’s worth of flu strains, including those dating back to 1918 and current pandemic-potential variants like H5N1[1][7]. The vaccine has demonstrated robust activation of both B cells (antibody production) and T cells (CD4+ and CD8+), suggesting strong humoral and cellular immune responses in animal models as well as in human-derived immune organoids[5]. The product is being manufactured for clinical trials with support from CEPI, with Phase I studies planned for launch in 2025[1][4].
