Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cenupatide (UPARANT) is a synthetic tetrapeptide inhibitor of the urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR) and formyl peptide receptor (FPR) signaling pathway. Designed to mimic the chemotactic sequence of uPAR (specifically the Ser88-Arg-Ser-Arg-Tyr92 sequence), cenupatide acts as an antagonist of FPR1 and FPR2, and also binds to integrin alpha-V/beta-3 (αvβ3). By blocking the uPAR-FPR crosstalk, cenupatide inhibits pathological angiogenesis, vascular permeability, and inflammatory cascades. It has been investigated preclinically by Pharmaphelix and Sooft Italia (Fidia Farmaceutici) for neovascular and inflammatory ocular diseases (such as diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration), diabetic nephropathy, and primary podocytopathies (including focal segmental glomerulosclerosis).
