Overview

CEP-37248 is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (following its acquisition of Cephalon) for the potential treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. The antibody specifically targets the p40 subunit, a protein component shared by both interleukin-12 (IL-12) and interleukin-23 (IL-23). By binding to this subunit, CEP-37248 prevents these cytokines from interacting with their respective cell surface receptors, thereby inhibiting the activation of Th1 and Th17 immune pathways which are central to the pathogenesis of diseases like psoriasis, Crohn's disease, and psoriatic arthritis. Clinical development reached Phase 1, with a study in healthy male volunteers completed in 2011 to evaluate safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics, but no further clinical progress has been reported, suggesting the program has been discontinued.
