CEP1430 is a novel therapeutic candidate developed by Celprogen, Inc., specifically designed to target cancer stem cells (CSCs) in advanced pancreatic cancer. CSCs are a subpopulation of tumor cells characterized by their ability to self-renew and drive tumor progression, metastasis, and resistance to conventional therapies. CEP1430 has demonstrated the ability to inhibit the growth of CSCs expressing specific markers such as CD133, CD44, CXCR4, and Oct4. Preclinical studies presented at AACR 2016 showed that CEP1430, particularly when used in combination with gemcitabine, significantly reduces the viability of CSCs and inhibits tumor engraftment more effectively than standard chemotherapy alone. The drug is part of a strategy to target the regenerative and metastatic activities within the tumor to achieve long-term anti-tumor benefit.
