Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cephagraine is a proprietary Ayurvedic herbal formulation developed by Charak. It is available in two dosage forms: oral tablets and nasal drops (nasya). Cephagraine is primarily indicated for the management of migraine and sinusitis. The formulation contains a blend of traditional Ayurvedic herbs and minerals, including Pippali (Piper longum), Arka phool (Calotropis gigantea), Shuddha Godanti (purified gypsum), Dhattura (Datura metel), Ajmoda (Carum copticum), Sajjikhar (sodium carbonate), Bhringaraj (Eclipta alba), and Shunthi (Zingiber officinale). In migraine, Cephagraine acts as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent, helping to constrict dilated cranial blood vessels and reduce the frequency, severity, and duration of migraine attacks, as well as associated symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and tinnitus. In sinusitis, it acts as a decongestant, reducing inflammation of the nasal mucosa, liquefying mucus, and promoting easy breathing.
