Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CEPO-Fc is a recombinant fusion protein consisting of **carbamylated erythropoietin (CEPO)** attached to the Fc domain and hinge region of human immunoglobulin G (IgG). **Carbamylation** modifies erythropoietin (EPO) so that it retains tissue- and neuroprotective actions while lacking erythropoietic (red blood cell production) effects, greatly reducing hematological side effects. The Fc fusion prolongs the half-life in circulation. CEPO-Fc exhibits robust **neuroprotective** activity in preclinical models, with demonstrated benefits on learning, memory, and synaptic plasticity, while activating anti-apoptotic, pro-survival, and autophagy pathways in neurons. It is under preclinical investigation for **Alzheimer’s disease** and possibly other neurodegenerative conditions[1][2][3][4].
