cePolyTregs (Cryopreserved Polyclonal Regulatory T Cells) is an autologous cell therapy consisting of regulatory T cells (Tregs) that have been expanded ex vivo and cryopreserved. Developed by the University of Alberta, this therapy is being investigated for use in islet transplantation for patients with type 1 diabetes. The primary goal of cePolyTregs is to induce immune tolerance and prevent the rejection of transplanted insulin-producing islets by suppressing the recipient's effector T-cell responses. By utilizing a cryopreserved formulation, the product offers logistical advantages for clinical administration while maintaining the suppressive functionality of fresh polyclonal Tregs.
