Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cepona is a functional dietary supplement developed by the South Korean biotechnology company FugenBio, specifically designed for blood sugar management and the reduction of insulin resistance. The product's active ingredient is an extract of the fungus *Ceriporia lacerata*, which is cultivated in Korea using the company's proprietary CLEPS technology. Clinical research, including human trials conducted at Kyunghee University Hospital, has demonstrated the supplement's efficacy in lowering fasting blood glucose levels and improving insulin sensitivity in patients with pre-diabetes and diabetes. Cepona was launched commercially in 2020 following certification from the Korean Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) as a functional health ingredient.
