CERACELL Foam is a bone graft substitute medical device developed by Curasan, designed as a collagen-ceramic composite biomaterial. It consists of bioactive, silicated beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) granules (containing 4% silicate) embedded within a porcine type 1 collagen matrix. The device functions as an osteoconductive scaffold that supports bone healing and regeneration by providing an interconnected porous structure that facilitates cellular infiltration, vascularization, and tissue integration. The silicated β-TCP component promotes osteointegration and mimics natural hydroxyapatite formation, while the collagen matrix provides structural support and promotes osteoblast attachment. CERACELL Foam is intended for surgical implantation and intraoperative topical application to bone defects in spinal surgery (including cervical and lumbar fusion), orthopedic surgery, trauma, and dental applications. It is designed to fully resorb and be replaced by autologous bone within 6 to 12 months.
