Overview

CERAMENT G is a **synthetic, resorbable bone void filler** designed for local application in bone voids or defects, especially during surgical treatment of osteomyelitis and open fractures in skeletally mature patients. It is a combination of hydroxyapatite (40%), calcium sulfate (60%), and gentamicin sulfate (17.5 mg/mL paste), delivered as an injectable or bead-form paste. The calcium sulfate component provides rapid resorption, while hydroxyapatite serves as a slowly resorbable osteoconductive scaffold for new bone formation. Gentamicin is locally eluted, offering high concentrations at the defect site to reduce colonization and recurrence of infection by gentamicin-sensitive microorganisms. Systemic antibiotic therapy is still recommended in conjunction. CERAMENT G is fully remodeled into host bone within 6-12 months after implantation[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][9].
